What we are interested in most of all is poetry that engages with place – specifically the National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty of the UK and Ireland.

The Moth Poetry Prize

Deadline: 31st December 2022.

The prize is open to anyone, as long as the poem is previously unpublished

Ropes Literary Journal

Deadline: 31st December 2022.

ROPES is endeavouring to include a wider array of material, ranging from poetry and non-fiction to visual art.

Anthropocene Journal

Open for entries until 31st December 2022.

Anthropocene is an online poetry journal. Their aim is to be a welcoming space for exciting poetry and translations from any language. They publish new poems every Wednesday and Sunday.

The 2022 Charles Causley International Poetry Competition

Deadline: 1st January 2023.

This year’s Head judge is award-winning poet and literary critic Séan Hewitt, known for his debut poetry collection Tongues Of Fire and his latest prose memoir All Down Darkness Wide.

The 2022 Exeter Novel Prize

Deadline: 1st January 2023.

They accept the first 10,000 words including synopsis of a novel that has not been accepted for publication by a traditional publisher. They are open to all authors who are without representation by a literary agent, whether or not they have been published. ​​​

Deadline: 6th January 2023.

WriteNow is Penguin’s award-winning programme to seek out, nurture and publish new writers from communities under-represented on the nation’s bookshelves.

Butcher’s Dog: Issue 18

Deadline: 15th January 2023.

A poetry journal publishing work anonymously. It’s their ethos to publish accomplished poems by exciting poets.

Cúirt New Writing Prize 2023

Deadline: 30th January 2023.

There are three categories: poetry, short fiction and prose and poetry in Irish. The winner in each category will be awarded a €500 cash prize and the opportunity to read at the 38th annual Cúirt International Festival of Literature which will take place in Galway between 17th – 23rd April 2023.
